6 Carry-On Luggage Essentials

All Bags Online

We are rapidly approaching the perceptible end of 2017, otherwise known as the holiday season! Most of us are planning a change of scenery by heading off to the nearest beach, pitching a tent in the wilderness, setting up in a luxury bungalow or flying abroad to explore the unknown. Either way, if you are stepping on a plane, you are going to want to take a look at these awesome tips for improving your carry-on packing skills!

This six step process involves the six most important categories to be included in your carry-on luggage:

  1. Bag Inception
  2. Paperwork Essentials
  3. Electronics
  4. Toiletries & Make-up
  5. Clothing
  6. Luxuries

Bag Inception

This tip alone, is an absolute game-changer! Your carry-on luggage is usually the smallest bag in a roller-luggage set,
being the perfect size to carry your essentials, and can be easily stowed away in your over-head luggage cabin, in-flight.

Along with your carry-on luggage bag, you are entitled to a “personal item” which is usually a handbag or laptop bag,
but let’s be honest, a handbag or a bag committed to only storing your laptop, are the least practical luggage items for a traveler.
Instead, opt for a backpack or a small duffle bag. You are then able to put a smaller handbag or a laptop case,
inside the backpack/duffle bag for ease of access to your important goodies. (You’ll thank me later.)

Paperwork Essentials

Just as mentioned in the heading, these are absolute essentials!
The following suggestions are aimed for travelling abroad, but can be tailored to suit your personal requirements:

  • Passport
  • I.D
  • Boarding pass
  • A copy of your itinerary
  • Print out the details of your transpiration from the airport as well as your accommodation
  • Copies of all your important documents
  • Extra passport pictures
  • Petty cash
  • Debit/credit card

All of these documents should be stored in a travel wallet for ease of access whilst going through customs and security at the airport.

Electronics

We generally can’t leave the house without our smart phones, so leaving your town or the country,
for that matter, will require mandatory electronic equipment.
The most common electronics packed by travelers, are the following:

  • Smartphone and charger
  • Earphones/headphones
  • Travel adapter
  • Laptop and charger
  • Tablet/kindle and charger
  • Camera, charger and equipment

Toiletries & make-up

As much as it’s exciting, airplanes are definitely not the most glamorous places to spend 8+ hours,
so you will definitely be needing some basic toiletries during your flight.
I also like make provisions for items which may be necessary during my layover, and even my first day/night at my holiday destination.
The following list is probably most applicable to women, but can be tailored to men’s toiletry requirements as well:

  • Body lotion/Moisturizing oil (travel size)
  • Shampoo and conditioner (travel size)
  • Tooth brush and toothpaste (travel size)
  • Deodorant
  • Wet wipes/Makeup wipes
  • Dry shampoo (no explanation needed)
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Tissues
  • Make-up
  • Hairbrush/Comb
  • Lip moisturizer
  • Pain tablets and Nausea tablets

Clothing

Yes, clothing in your carry-on, may be a new concept to most but you definitely want to try this!
I like to pack a change of clothes in my carry-on especially if I have 8+ hour layover or just in case there happens to be a delay with my luggage at my destination.
Other clothing necessities include:

  • Cozy socks
  • A comfortable hoodie or jersey

Luxuries

These particulars didn’t quite fit into any of the other categories, so we’ve given them a category of their own.
The items on this list will ensure a more enjoyable flight:

  • Eye mask
  • Earplugs
  • Snacks (dry)
  • Chewing gum
  • Neck pillow
  • Notebook/Journal and pen
  • Travel towel
  • Luggage lock
  • Book
  • Packing cubes

I hope you’ve taken some notes, as these six tips are guaranteed to improve your packing game this holiday season!

Keep slaying xx
